No gorings and just what was expected – sixth encierro
Fast as wolves and packed together like sardines.. The bulls of Victoriano del Río caused eight men to be taken to be the hospital complex of Pamplona this morning in the sixth encierro of Sanfermines. Too fast even for gorings because they had one objective – reach the ring and an unexpected death .Exactly as in the eight previous years that this ranch has travelled to Pamplona, the six bulls have not reached their destiny in more than two minutes and 16 seconds. In other words, they are fast.
The herd flew up the streets in a compact mass side-by side with the runners. Several men were able to have one of the most unforgettable experiences of their lives -race together even touching the horns, without the bulls swinging their enormous heads that could have left more than one goring. In fact the Victoriano del Ríos did not gore anybody at all.
Curiously enough the most dangerous moments happened as a result of the speed of the bulls running shoulders to shoulders. It was then that the falls began, especially in the stretch of Teléfonica. In this part of the encierro, most of the injuries occurred – five – with one more in Duque de Ahumada, another in Santo Domingo and a third in Espoz y Mina. The eight injuries were contusions.
To sum up, this was the second fastest encierro in these Sanfermines until now as was expected from the bulls coming from Guadalix (Madrid). At total of, eighty-one people were attended by Cruz Roja in the sixth encierro.
This afternoon the matadors will be Sebastián Castella, Alberto López Simón and Ginés Marín.
More information will bes given in the Medical Report.
