Day of our Elders Sanfermines July 13
Hundreds of our elder citizens gathered today at 11 am in the Chapel of San Fermín in Pamplona to participate in a mass in their honor.
The church of San Lorenzo was filled with red scarves and happy faces, with the Mayor, Enrique Maya attending.
During the sermon, Iñaki Lete, director of the Salesianos of Pamplona spoke to the elders, congratulating them for their “contribution to the life of the city and for their work”. He also encouraged society as a whole to learn from them and their values in life.
Iñaki Lete asked the San Fermín to “listen to them and to their hopes and needs and defined them as examples to follow since they “know to raise their eyes and heart to God even after passing through difficult moments in their lives.” He praised all they do to help their children and grandchildren have faith in God.
Regarding the family, the director of the Salesianos of Pamplona recognized that lately “the types of families have changed and urged that the closeness of families remain a priority.” “Young people continue to need a family,” he said.
