Jazzfermín: the best jazz for the very best fiesta
For four days during Sanfermines, jazz takes the stage again with talented musicians such as Chano Dominguez, Javier Colina or Mikel Andueza.
On July 5, 10, 11 and 12, two concerts a day will be offered to jazz fans in the Plaza Compañía. This exciting mix of jazz and fiesta begins on Saturday with the 20-year-old guitar player, King Solomon Hicks. He comes to Pamplona from New York to present the songs of his latest record, a blend of blues and jazz that recalls the incredible six cords of Wes Montgomery or George Benson.
On Sunday, Mikel Andueza from Estella in Navarra will fill the streets of Pamplona with music from his celebrated record, “Cada 5 Segundos”, an album chosen to figure among the best international jazz CDs this year by the magazine, “Babelia” of the newspaper, “El País. After Sanfermines, Andueza will take his saxophone to Jazzaldi in San Sebastián, accompanied by five other known musicians.
The Americans, Spyro Gyra take the stage in the Plaza Compañía with jazz fusion on Monday. This band has more than 25 records to listen to and more than 40 years living from their music all around the world.
The last concert of Jazzfermín on July 12 at midnight will be a musical dialogue between the exquisite piano of Chano Domínguez, the double bass of Javier Colina and the drumsticks of the well-known Guillermo McGill.
