Sanfermines is not the only treasure of Navarra
The fiesta of Sanfermines is the most internationally known reason to visit Navarra, and the Tourism Office of the Government of Navarra uses it as a showcase so that visitors can learn about the many other different “treasures” of Navarra.
This year, for example, Tourism has promoted “The Route of the Castles and Fortresses in Navarra” as one of the activities to mark the 100-year anniversary of the Battle of the Navas de Tolosa (1212) and of the incorporation of Navarra into the Crown of Castilla (1512).
The governmental Office of Tourism also works with the International Office for Journalists (OIP) during Sanfermines. The OIP is located in the Office of Tourism on the avenue of Roncesvalles in Pamplona, near the monument to the encierro and to the bullring.
Sanfermines presents a unique opportunity to get to know Navarra more in depth, for example, learning the path Ernest Hemingway took during his stays in Pamplona. Tourism also offers a product called “From fiesta to tranquility”, combining days of fiesta in Pamplona with moments of relax and rest in some of the most spectacular corners of Navarra.
According to current data, 25% of the visitors to Sanfermines take advantage of their vacation to know more about Navarra. The most visited places are Roncesvalles, Olite, Javier and Tudela.
