The fourth encierro – Fuente Ymbros, fast as rockets and no interest in goring
Five runners were taken to hospital centers – all of them with mild traumas. In the Estafeta stretch of the encierro: (L.E.E., male, 51-years-old from Navarra), in the Telefónica stretch, (F.S.G., male, 26-years-old from Madrid), (S.F., male, 38-years-old from Schuandor – Germany), (D.M., male, 50-years-old from Miami in the United States) and in the Espoz y Mina street, (I.P.E., male, 20-years.old from Pamplona).
The six bulls from the ranch Fuente Ymbro belonging to Ricardo Gallardo followed tradition, making this fourth encierro of July 10 the fastest to date – two minutes and 15 seconds. Famous for acting noble in the encierro and in the ring with no gorings.
The encierro began right on time, led by an ox, before four bulls ran ahead of the others. Entering Santo Domingo, where there were fewer falls than in other years, the bulls permitted a tame companion – an ox -to go ahead but not for long. The herd stayed together until the second part of Estafeta. It was here that a bull stumbled over several runners, but he quickly jumped up and galloped alone, which made for some very good memories. At the same time, a peach-colored bull broke with tradition and entered the bullring before the last black Fuente Ymbro , ending the fourth encierro.
Summing up, the herd headed towards the corrals of the ring together.
If it had not been for the one bullś fall, which caused it to run somed 15 meters behind its brothers, todayś encierro would have made history in all the encierros of Pamplona, a record that is still held by the Miuras with two minutes and five seconds.
In 2017, the Fuente Ymbros, also ran the fourth encierro of Sanfermines in which – like today – they showed their style, and this was the fifth consecutive year without any gorings from todayś ranch.
