350 Red Cross Volunteers for Sanfermines
350 volunteers from the Red Cross will be ready for any emergency during these Sanfermines 2015. The healthcare team will be present in the “Chupinazo”, the slope of Santo Domingo and in the parish of San Saturnino where many accidents occur. Reports on those injured in the running of the bulls will also be available on Twitter (@CruzRojaNavarra) and on Facebook.
The Red Cross has announced that there will be 350 volunteers working during Sanfermines 2015 from 10:30 on July 6 to 9 on July 15.
Two attendance posts will be installed for the “Chupinazo”: one of them at the slope of Santo Domingo and the second, in the parish of San Saturnino. In both posts, there will be medical service available, nurses, ambulance and other support vehicles.
For the “Encierro”, 100 volunteers to attend injured runners will be available with 10 ambulances, five of them with medical equipment. Following every “encierro”, the Red Cross will publish tweets containing preliminary medical reports. More detailed information will be published on the web page Cruz Roja Navarra and on their facebook page.
After the “encierro”, as usual, an on-the-spot report concerning the injured will be reported by journalists covering the Teléfonica stretch of the runway.
There will be health volunteers present at 100 other events with three ambulances, one of the containing UV!/UCI and a support vehicle permanently available.
Due to the huge amount of people celebrating Sanfermines at the weekend, the Red Cross will also install a Primary Attention Unit in the Colegio Público Vázquez de Mella in Teobaldos street, near Olite street. Hours are from 10:30 in the morning on July 6 until 22.00 hours on July 7 ad from 22.00 hours from Friday, July 10 until 9 on July 13.
The Cruz Roja welcomes journalists who wish to write about their work during Sanfermines. Those journalists should contact the Red Cross as soon as possible.
